Young Carers Halloween Party at CARAD, Rhayader
One of
the most asked for activities for all our Young Carers, right
across the county, is for all of Powys Carers to join together
for an outing, which we managed to do during October Half Term.
We all met up at CARAD in Rhayader for a Halloween Party. Great
success for networking for everyone, lots of shared info, ideas
and friendships sealed. Our next joint outing is hopefully going
to be planned for January look out for details coming soon.
‘One of our Chill Club meetings was to carve
out pumpkins. Doing this was a fun but messy job – John
Parratt cut out the pumpkin and started the first design based
on ‘The Scream’ but the shape of the pumpkin wouldn’t
fit the shape so we went with a more traditional design with
a more “kick-ass” look, which was great. I carved
into it and John cut it, Team Work’ Carl

like the dancing”

“I
can’t wait for the next trip out so that I can talk to
all my friends from all over Powys, but I think that there should
have been more Halloween games and that the party should have
been more Halloweenish, but it’s really great to meet
in groups each week now” Naomi Hardman |
Thanks to Marie and Kate for organising
such amazing gruesome food, the labels were fantastic, just sorry
that more did not get dressed up. Maybe they would have done if
it had been an evening party?

Halloween came and went like any other time,
We had great fun playing games and eating slime,
We dressed up as ghouls and ghosts of the night,
And hoped we’d scare someone through the night.
It was fun to join up with our friends and play,
It was a fun and enjoyable way to spend the day,
If I go again I’m going to be a zombie,
And scare my best friend only.
I danced about and had loads of fun,
Nonni, Leah and I had so much fun,
I am so glad I had my friends around me,
Cause it matters when hard times get tough for me.
The flashing lights of the disco lights gave me a headache,
But even though I had a headache, we had to make,
Masks and outfits for the dancing of the night,
But then it all ended when they turned on the light.
I do miss seeing my best friends Leah and Nonni,
They make me enjoy the day with funny faces pulled by Nonni,
Nonni is great and fun, all the same Leah is too,
I love them both and can’t wait to see them again soon.
This poem was dedicated to my bested friends Nonni and Leah
