Current work being undertaken by Disability
Powys
Powys County Council has named Disability Powys
in its Disability Strategy as the appropriate agency to deliver
some of the services that are essential for disabled people to lead
an independent and active life, and to promote social inclusion.
In this context, Disability Powys is considering developing such
services as:-
- Disability Information and Advice Line (DIAL)
- Independent Advocacy Service
- Direct Payments Management
- RADAR Key sales
Disability Powys has three qualified trainers among its staff and
can deliver a range of training to groups and individuals on topics
such as the Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Equality and
Assertiveness for Disabled People.
Disability Powys is working with key statutory and voluntary sector
agencies to ensure that the interests of disabled people are fully
represented, and that disabled people play a full and active part
in the planning and decision making process on issues that affect
their daily lives.
